How to Migrate DHCP Configuration and Leases to Windows Server 2012, is available here

If you are planning to implement Windows 2008 R2 DHCP server, there is a pretty good chance that you will be working on a network with an existing DHCP infrastructure in place.
Migrating the existing DHCP configuration and database allows you to switch seamlessly DHCP servers. All DHCP scopes, scope options, reservations, active leases are transferred transparently from clients’ perspective.

One of the approaches for DHCP migration is to export/import DHCP database with the netsh dhcp server command. This might seem an easy and straight forward approach, but in reality you might experience problems (like importing leases, reservations etc).

In this Step-by-Step Screencast, we will demonstrate another approach – using Windows Server 2008 R2 Migration Tools to move an existing DHCP server configuration and database to Windows Server 2008 R2. The source DHCP server in our demo is running Windows Server 2003 R2. The instructions and commands which we provide in the text file with commands , are valid for both x86 and x64 (R2) Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 source DHCP server. The destination/new DHCP server is running Windows Server 2008 R2.

Step 1 In this step, we add Windows Server Migration tools and create the Server Migration package. It is important to create a package that matches the OS and architecture of the source server, and we demonstrate how to create the packages for the most common source servers – windows 2003 (x86) and windows 2003 (x64).

Step 2 Next, we proceed with installing the prerequisites and the generated package. Then follows the most important part – exporting/importing DHCP configuration and Database, authorizing the new DHCP server and unauthorizing the old one.
